Spring has sprung and just as we said in last month’s blog it’s time for FRESH!  While we talked about how we use fresh toppings like mushrooms, green and red peppers, onions, and spinach. We talked last month about how we make our crusts fresh in-house. Last month we talked about how important the combination of fresh ingredients is to who we are as a pizza company. This month we continue that discussion. This month we talk Salads.

Salads are a lot like pizza. It may sound like a crazy comparison, but it makes sense when you dig in. Just like a pizza, a salad has to have a great foundation. The groundwork for every one of our salads starts with fresh greens. A Salad without lettuce is hardly a salad. Lettuce is supposed to be crisp and refreshing with some bite. It is a critical component and one we take special care with to ensure its’ freshness.

After the base of greens, our salads start to get very different. Our House Salad and Family Salad are the same except for the size. The Family Salad is the House Salad family-sized. Both of these delicious salads feature fresh greens, red onions, green peppers, cucumber, tomatoes, and then topped with cheddar cheese.

Next up is our Spinach House Salad. Roughly the same size as our House Salad, the Spinach House Salad starts with a fresh bed of spinach and is decorated with tomatoes, red onions, mushrooms, and smoked gouda. The combination of smoky, sweet, and earthy flavors makes this salad very special and pleasing to the palate.

Keeping with the spinach theme. We are also very proud of our Sonoma Valley Spinach Salad. This offering features fresh spinach, red onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, sliced hardboiled egg, hickory-smoked crumbled bacon, and is topped with smoked gouda. We will even give you a breadstick with this salad. The Sonoma Valley Spinach Salad isn’t just a starter; this salad is a meal in itself. We know you will be very happy with this salad. You can even choose to add oven-roasted chicken to the top if you like.

Our Teriyaki Chicken Salad brings some new flavors to a traditional salad. Again, starting with a bed of fresh greens, the Teriyaki Chicken Salad features red onions, green peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, cucumber, and smoked gouda. To finish this flavorful addition, we layer on teriyaki chicken to add some additional protein, sweetness, and heartiness to this amazing offering.

Keeping with the fresh theme, our Malibu Greek Salad brings in another fresh offering. Fresh greens, red onions, tomatoes, black olives, banana peppers, and feta. We serve this fresh salad with a side of hummus and some fresh palm bread. Want to add some oven-roasted chicken? Not a problem! We can do that too!

Last and certainly not least. The flagship salad at Ultimate California Pizza. The Chef Salad. This is not a salad for the faint-hearted. Maybe you should share with a friend salad. This salad features fresh greens, smoked ham, smoked turkey, mushrooms, cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, green peppers, sliced hardboiled eggs, cheddar, Swiss, and a breadstick. There wasn’t much we left off of this salad.

The final topic to cover about salads: the dressing! You can’t have a great salad without great dressing! With that in mind, we made sure to have a great list of dressings for you to choose from. We happily serve all dressing on the side so you can add as much, or as little, dressing as you please. You have the choice of our homemade ranch, honey mustard, Greek, homemade bleu cheese, thousand island, low-fat Italian, or our balsamic vinaigrette dressings. Whatever you are craving, we have something that will appeal to you!
